New regulations and electronic data discovery requirements call for
new digital archive measures. Tape is not an effective digital archive
medium, especially for business compliance data. Heidi Biggar of Enterprise
Strategy Group discusses how the Enterprise Active
Archive (EAA) provides
an ideal solution. It creates a multi-tiered active archive for cost-effective,
long-term accessibility to compliance data.
According to Biggar, organizations cannot continue keeping non-transactional
data on primary storage systems. Archive platforms such as the EAA make
better economic sense. The EAA can be configured to meet your specific
archive requirements using both UDO technology and
RAID disk. Integrated software enables the movement of data among these
tiers according to user-defined policies.
In December 2006 the federal government implemented the Federal Rules
of Civil Procedure (FRCP) Amendment that created new rules and procedures
for eDiscovery of electronic documents, emails etc. While many Compliance
regulations typically only affected large or publicly trade companies,
the Amendments to the FRCP applies to organizations of all sizes and
types. Download the Osterman FRCP research white paper to learn more. Download
