PLASMON PLC

Siemens selects Plasmon as Partner for long term Storage

Plasmon, a leading manufacturer of automated data storage libraries and developer of data management software, today announced that they have entered into a long term relationship with Siemens Medical, a leading provider of healthcare equipment, to provide optical archival storage.

This agreement covers Plasmon's NAS Archive Server system, which incorporates their full range of 5.25 inch MO and DVD optical libraries. The Plasmon NAS Archive Server solution, which will be developed in close cooperation with Siemens, will interface to the SIENET MagicStore and provide automated management of the optical archive, providing secure storage of up to 5.8TB growing to 36TB in the near future. This will ensure the availability of patient data and data security in conformance to the health care data storage regulations.

Siemens considers to also adopt Plasmon's UDO technology. UDO is the next generation of optical technology providing a roadmap of 30GB, 60GB and 120GB of rewritable and true WORM storage with the economies of DVD.

Plasmon and Siemens will continue to work together to meet the future requirements of medical PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System).

Nigel Street, Chief Executive of Plasmon, said:

"This agreement demonstrates Plasmon's ability to provide total storage solutions. We look forward to a long relationship with Siemens providing them with a complete archival solution."
